MorningOS runs entirely on your phone. We do not collect your data. There is no MorningOS account, no MorningOS server, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs in the app. Nothing you write, record or measure is sent to us, because there is nowhere for it to be sent.
Everything below is kept on your device, in the app's own storage. If you back your phone up, it goes with the backup: on iPhone into your encrypted iCloud or computer backup, on Android into Google's encrypted app backup, under your own account in both cases. On Android, your voice recordings and the music you import are deliberately left out of that backup — they are large, and the recordings are the most personal thing the app holds.

Deleting the app deletes all of it. We cannot recover it, because we never had it.
With your permission, MorningOS reads steps, active energy and exercise minutes so the Exercise block reflects what you actually did, and writes mindful minutes and workouts back — to Apple Health on iPhone, and to Health Connect on Android. Health data is read from and written to your device only. It is never transmitted anywhere and never used for advertising.
Used to work out your local sunrise and sunset, so the background follows the real sky, and to fetch local conditions. The app asks for approximate location only, never precise. Your coordinates are sent to a weather service to return the conditions where you are: Apple's WeatherKit on iPhone, and Open-Meteo on Android. Nothing else is sent with them — no identifier, no account, nothing about you — and they are not sent to us or stored on any server of ours. If you decline, nothing is sent to the weather service at all — not a request, not a coordinate. The app estimates sunrise from your time zone and simply shows no conditions.
Used only when you choose to dictate a journal entry, or record your own voice for the affirmation and visualization practices.
On Android, dictation uses your phone's on-device recogniser and nothing else. Where a phone or a language has no on-device model, the microphone button simply does not appear — the app will not send your words away instead. On iPhone, transcription happens on your phone wherever your language supports on-device recognition; where it does not, the audio is processed by Apple's speech recognition service under Apple's privacy policy.
The recordings you make for the affirmation and visualization practices are a separate thing entirely: those are never transcribed, never uploaded, and never leave your device.
Used only to copy music you pick into the app so it can play while the screen is locked.
Used only to remind you when your morning hour begins.
MorningOS is not directed at children under 13, and collects nothing from anyone.
The app contains no advertising, no tracking, no analytics and no third-party SDKs. Three outside services are involved, and only these: the weather provider described above — Apple's WeatherKit on iPhone, Open-Meteo on Android — which receives an approximate location and nothing else; Apple's speech recognition on iPhone, in the fallback case described above — Android has no such fallback; and your platform's own encrypted backup, if you use it. We are not a party to any of them, and none of them sends anything to us.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
